Transforming The Hive: New Spaces for a Thriving Community

The Hive Silsden CIO is excited to announce its plan for major improvements to the facilities at The Hive, designed to better serve our growing community.

A new Play Village suitable for children aged 0-7 to include a cafe, sensory room, mum & baby area, soft play crawling area, soft play for toddlers and a play village full of interactive role play shops plus an enclosed outdoor play area for freeflow play.

A new Activity Room (by day) and Youth Club (by night).

A Pump Track for our Young People

A fully accessible community garden, The Hive will soon be able to offer even more services, activities, and events for residents of all ages.

Upcoming Enhancements:

The following improvements are set to transform The Hive into a more vibrant, inclusive space for families and young people:

Play Village

  • New Flooring: A fresh, modern floor finish for a more welcoming and functional space
  • Improved Kitchen Facilities: A fully refurbished kitchen with commercial-standard fittings
  • Sensory Room: To generate an income stream and provide a service for adults and children
  • Designated Play Areas: Suitable for 0-7 years throughout the year
  • Cafe: To generate another income stream

Activity Room/Youth Club
A dedicated room for our Parent and child programmes during the day and a Youth Club by night.

  • Seating Areas: A space to socialise and meet, accessible at all times
  • Comfy Seating: Watch a film on the big screen or just catch up with your mates
  • Interactive Games: Lets play some group games
  • Large table and chairs: For activities, crafts, cooking or meetings

Community Garden
A dedicated area for gardening and outdoor activities, promoting well-being and environmental engagement. Key features include:

  • Wheelchair Accessible Pathways: Ensuring everyone can enjoy the garden, regardless of mobility
  • Trees: Fruit trees for the community to harvest and enjoy
  • Seating Areas: A space to socialise and meet, whilst enjoying the uninterrupted view of the hills beyond
  • Sensory Areas: Providing opportunities for groups who like to garden, a space for young people to experience new sensations

Pump Track
A dedicated area for local children to safely ride, play, and connect—supporting their passion for a pump track.

Building a pump track involves permissions, funding, and specialist construction – all of which take time and resources, something The Hive staff currently doesn’t have.

Still, there’s hope. The Hive is calling on the wider community to support the idea and work together toward a safe, properly managed pump track for local children in the future. “Let’s get behind them – safely and sensibly.”

Residents who’d like to express support or offer help can get in touch with The Hive directly via email to pumptrack@thehivesilsden.co.uk
